Power cuts hit water supply in Cox Town - Bangalore - City - NEWS - The Times of India
The dreaded dry days are set to return. Increased power cuts have left several parts of East and North Bangalore without water for the
past few days. The gaps between days when water is supplied has increased.
Residents of Ramakrishnappa Road in Cox Town have been waiting for their weekly supply for over seven days now. Already suffering irregular water supply for the past one year, the current situation is making life worse for them. Even their regular supply, on Thursdays, has been very thin thanks to low pressure.
With no response to a recent signature campaign, they now have their fingers crossed for this Thursday. Other parts of Cox Town like Mouna Guru Mutt Road and surrounding areas have also been affected.
Indiranagar, New Thippasandra, HAL I, II and III Stage, Ulsoor, Domlur, R T Nagar, Kaval Byrasandra and parts of Hebbal are other affected areas. All these areas have been hit by frequent power cuts the past few days.
"We have been facing some problems since last week," a BWSSB spokesperson said. It is triggered by frequent power cuts at T K Halli, affecting specific areas supplied by it. "Even on Sunday, there was a power cut for three hours. There was a similar occurence three days back," he said.
No power for two more days
There will be no power supply in parts of the city from 10 am to 5 pm on Wednesday and Thursday due to maintenance work. The affected areas are:
Wednesday: Vyalikaval Layout, Nagarbhavi Main Road, Priyadharahin Layout, Moodara Palya Circle, Bapuji Layout, Vinayaka Layout, GKW Layout, PF Layout, parts of Marenahalli, Shivanandanagar, Annapoorneswari Nagar and surrounding areas.
Thursday: Widia Layout, BHEL Township, Subbanna Garden, Chandra Layout Main Road, Basaveshwara Layout and surrounding areas.
